Heroes in the Sky
Nautical Salute presented Heroes in the sky. This was recorded on Veterans Day at AMVETS Post 2006. See the video here
This video is very important to many and extremely moving. It deals with the 22 each day of our brothers and sisters who take their own lives.

AMVETS Clothing Drive for Florida Veteran
From SEC, the AMVETS Department of Florida has started gathering clothing, blankets, and sundries for homeless vets. Florida has approximately 1,100 homeless veterans, most of whom stay in Lake County. We are looking for a volunteer to head up this worthwhile endeavor. If interested, feel free to contact an Officer.
Additionally, we are preparing hygiene kits to distribute. To make the kits consistent, we ask that monetary donations be provided. We can then purchase the items in bulk to prepare the kits. Feel free to make any donation you can to a Post Officer.
Ladies Auxiliary Food Drive
If you’re going to the Post, please consider bringing an item to donate to the Leesburg Food Pantry. The Auxiliary Community Service Chairwoman Mary Ann Jarboe is assisting the pantry by collecting needed items each month. The pantry includes Mac & Cheese in every food basket it gives out to needy families, and they’re supply is low. For October, they are collecting Pasta – spaghetti, elbows, any kind of noodles.
Thank you in advance!
Honor Guard
We are still looking for volunteers to participate in our Honor Guard. Our post has almost 400 members, plus Sons of AMVETS, Riders, and Ladies Auxiliary. We need at least five people to step up. It will be good to provide the honors earned to our deceased brothers and sisters and to participate in local events. Please consider signing up on one of the lists posted. You can also send an email to webmaster@amvets2006.org
We Need Volunteers
The Post needs volunteers for activities and assistance in operating the post. If people do not step up, you will see activities decrease. If you want to volunteer, please contact any officer or trustee with your interest. Please ensure anytime you volunteer, you submit your time to 2nd VP Daune Smith. If you would like to volunteer, click HERE.
